The Park After Dark is a charity event to raise money for the Chase Park after-school teen program. Every year, we transform the old theater into a brand-new haunted house, never repeating the same theme twice, creating a truly unique experience. This year, we are pleased to present: Chuckles’ Sweet 16...A Party to Die For.

Sixteen years ago, a clown by the name of Chuckles worked for a small entertainment company called Live Laugh Chuckle. On October 16th, he was hired to perform at a child’s birthday party inside the old Chase Park theater. According to the story, the party was supposed to be like any other: games, presents, and a birthday cake.

When Chuckles came through the theater carrying the cake, he tripped and fell face-first into it just as the gag candles exploded. His costume caught fire, then the curtains, and within minutes the entire theater was burning, leaving no survivors.

At least, that’s the story the park told.

There was supposedly one other person in the building that night: the janitor. He survived the fire and claimed some older kids had pushed Chuckles to ruin all the fun and caused the fire before fleeing the building. He even kept a journal describing exactly what he had seen. But nobody listened. He was fired shortly after; Live Laugh Chuckle disappeared as the lawsuits piled up, and the theater was boarded shut. Eventually, people stopped talking about what happened there.

For years, the doors stayed locked.

Then, 16 years later, on the anniversary of the fire, the old janitor came back.

They say he still had a key he’d stolen before leaving the park. That night, he convinced a group of teenagers to follow him inside the abandoned theater. Everything was still there: the burned decorations, melted presents, remnants of the party, and sitting in the darkness was the old birthday cake.

Strangest of all, there was one candle left in it.

The janitor warned them about an old story: if the candle was lit on the sixteenth day of the sixteenth year, Chuckles would come back to finish the party.

The teens thought it was funny… Chuckles did too.

Now the doors are open again. His old friends from Live Laugh Chuckle have returned, the party has started, and Chuckles has spent sixteen years planning a party to die for.

But this time, everyone’s invited.

The only question is: Will you make it out before he blows out the candles?
